My GPS! (The Journey – Part 1)

Welcome Back!

I look forward to spending this time with you! I’m learning how to walk this walk of faith day by day; step by step. It’s my prayer that you can use something that God is teaching me to make your path brighter and easier to travel.

If you are reading this post, then I believe that you are open to hearing about the power of love. For that’s who God is. God is love.  He surrounds me with His presence, with His love. He’s always at work on my behalf. It is this unending love that draws me to Him.

What’s one thing I’m learning? I’m learning every day just how much God demonstrates His love. He’s always working on my behalf, because He wants me to end up in the best place possible, with Him forever.

There is only one road that can take me there and one complete road map. I’ve learned that the Bible is a wonderful God-given Positioning System for avoiding the pitfalls and traps I will encounter while making the journey. From experience, I know that without the Word, it’s easy to become distracted and pulled in the wrong direction… especially when I’m clueless, in the dark. I have looked for guidance wherever I could get it, and sometimes it was not the best source. Unsure of my next steps, I tried to reason my way out. Before I knew it, I was walking in fear and worry, instead of faith.

It’s sort of like when I’m traveling on a trip at night and it’s pitch dark. It’s difficult to see, even when I use my high beams. (You know what I mean if you’ve ever traveled when the darkness is so thick that you can feel it.) I can get turned around and headed down the wrong road if I don’t have the right directions.

Fortunately, whenever I get confused and misdirected, I go to Jesus Christ and He puts me back on the right road. His Word cuts through the confusion and shines wisdom and truth into the situation. My Heavenly Father has taught me that I don’t have to try to figure out life on my own, or lean to my own understanding. I don’t have to have every answer, know the whole story, or see the complete picture in order to make the journey successfully. All I have to do is place every area of my life in His capable, all-powerful hands.

No, I don’t have the answer to every facet of my life or to the lives of those around me, but God does. I can’t see around the bend, but God can. Because He made me, He knows my divine purpose on earth. Because He is all-wise, He knows the directions I should and should not take. Because He has all power and the Master plan, He is the only one who is capable of helping me to accomplish His plan for my life.

I don’t know all of the events that will take place before I reach my destination, or how much time I have to get there, but ultimately, I do know that all journeys have a beginning and an end. In the meantime, while I am traveling in that space of time between my ‘beginning’ and ‘ending’, there are two truths I have learned…

  • I can’t fill my life, from sun up to sun down, with so many activities that I barely have time to breathe.
  • I have to choose to slow down and look where I’m going.

Why?

I am headed somewhere. At the ‘end of the day’, I will be closer to God or farther away. Either way, a final destination has been prepared for me. Fortunately, I get to choose where I will spend eternity. I choose heaven.

How about you?

I want to talk a little more about this choice I’ve made next time.

Until then,

Slow down!

Breathe!

Check your GPS, then have a wonderful day!

Love,

T’Alice

Questions to consider – What’s driving you? Who or what is leading your decisions? Where are you headed?

Here are scriptures [NIV] that tell you more about God’s ‘GPS’!
2 Samuel 22:29 You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light.

Psalm 119:104-106 I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Proverbs 3:20-22 21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; 22 they will be life for you,  an ornament to grace your neck.

Proverbs 3:12-14 13 Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

Psalm 23:3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Psalm 48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

Isaiah 58:11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Luke 1:78-80 Because of the tender mercy of our God,  by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven 79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

For God expressed His great love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life. 17 Here’s the point. God didn’t send His Son into the world to judge it; instead, He is here to rescue a world headed toward certain destruction. God sent Christ that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. [See John 3:16-17 Amplified & Voice versions]

About Administrator

I'm more than half of a century old! That sounds 'cooler' than saying I'm in my fifties! LOL My husband and I have been married for thirty plus years and have a son, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. I'm surrounded by a loving Christian family: mom, dad, sister, brother and their families. I love to garden, draw, paint, read, sing, compose, and work with young people. On the other hand, I also love to spend time around the 'young at heart.' I love to have fun and to laugh. I try to make the most of each day and enjoy it in God's presence. I love performing random acts of kindness to brighten someone's day! I'm learning how to be at peace with the unique person I am and to appreciate the way that God has made me. Hey! It's all a part of the journey!
