The Quiz (The Journey – Part 3)

Have you ever been handed a quiz,  looked down at the questions, and smiled because you knew the answers?

Life is nothing if not an on-going quiz. Every where I turn, there’s a quiz about something. How am I suppose to treat others? How should I manage my time and my finances? How should I take care of my mind, my body, and my soul? Should I eat this piece of cake? Should I keep my mouth closed when I want to say more? Should I turn this television show off or continue to watch?  So many questions. So many tests. Sometimes I pass them, sometimes I don’t. When I stand before God, and He holds me accountable for the thoughts I’ve thought, the words I’ve said, and the choices I’ve made, I hope that I will have passed the most important tests; you know, the ones that impacted my character and determined where I spend eternity.

Oh, I forgot.

Every choice I make sets me up for the next decision to be made. Choice by choice, I am either strengthened or I am weakened for the journey.

I passed an important one-question quiz recently. I calmly thought, “I KNOW this answer!

The question was, “Is the Bible true and can I trust it?”

The answer was and is a resounding, ” YES!!”

I’m SO sure that God’s Word is true, because of the impact that my relationship with Christ has had on my life. Loving God, myself, and others has revolutionized my life. Trusting His Word has transformed my thinking and has made me a much better person. And I do mean much better.

Over and over again, I experience first-hand the power that forgiveness has to continuously set my heart free. Because of the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit residing in my heart, I have walked through the ‘fires’ of life and come out on the other side; not destroyed, but stronger. More than that, I have experienced and continue to experience the ongoing, abiding love of God in my life on a daily basis.

Every where I turn, there He is…

loving me,

caring for me,

lifting me up,

saving me,

helping me,

and teaching me through His vast love,

how to enjoy the journey He has planned for me.

And when it’s all over down here,

I am sure that I will spend the rest of eternity in the presence of Love,

for

God is love.

Yes I KNOW, through personal experience, that God’s Word is true.

One day, I had to finally make up my mind, for myself, what I was going to based my life on, and who was going to be on the throne of my heart. I had to take a multiple choice test.

A or B

life or death

blessings or curses

God or Satan

heaven or hell

be alone without God’s direction, or cling to God, who had all the answers

I chose God.

I chose Love.

It’s because of His love that lives in me, that I have learned how to accept and love myself, and believe it or not, how to love you. You are constantly in the back of my mind. I long for moments when I can steal away and encourage you. Like someone who can’t resist telling friends about a good deal, I can’t wait to share with you truths that the Holy Spirit is teaching me.

So here is one truth I have learned…

Love exists.

I can’t imagine what life would be like if there was no love anywhere. More than that, God (True Love) never ends. It’s God’s desire to flood my life with His love. As I connect myself to Him, I experience an abundant life. The same great love and concern He has for me, He has for you.

So smile!

Why?

I gave you the answer to the quiz! Now go tell someone else!

It’s time to enjoy the journey!

Love ya,

T’Alice

Questions – How are you doing at passing life’s tests? In which area(s) do you need God’s help?

Below are scriptures about the importance of making correct choices. [NIV].

Deuteronomy 13:2-4 2 and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Joshua 24:14-16 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”  16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!

Proverbs 3:31 Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways.

Proverbs 8:10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold

Proverbs 12:26 The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

For God expressed His great love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life. 17 Here’s the point. God didn’t send His Son into the world to judge it; instead, He is here to rescue a world headed toward certain destruction. God sent Christ that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. [See John 3:16-17 Amplified & Voice versions]

I'm more than half of a century old! That sounds 'cooler' than saying I'm in my fifties! LOL My husband and I have been married for thirty plus years and have a son, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. I'm surrounded by a loving Christian family: mom, dad, sister, brother and their families. I love to garden, draw, paint, read, sing, compose, and work with young people. On the other hand, I also love to spend time around the 'young at heart.' I love to have fun and to laugh. I try to make the most of each day and enjoy it in God's presence. I love performing random acts of kindness to brighten someone's day! I'm learning how to be at peace with the unique person I am and to appreciate the way that God has made me. Hey! It's all a part of the journey!
